Hi Dale, I've owned three ThinkPads in my time, and all of them had a Windows key.
It's usually the third key from the left of the control key on the left hand side of the keyboard. The series is as follows: Control, followed by the function key, followed by the Windows key, then the alt key,, spacebar, alt again, then the applications key and another control key. Some do come with an extra windows key on the right hand side, but it would depend on the series of notebook and screen size you have. Hope this helps.
