Hi, In the start menu tab, the radio button for classic was already checked.
When I hit enter on the customize button, Expand My Documents-OFF Expand My Pictures-OFF Expand Network Connections-OFF Expand Printers-OFF Scroll Programs-OFF Show Small Icons in Start menu-OFF Use Personalized Menus-ON In the task bar tab Lock the taskbar is checked Auto-hide the taskbar is not checked Keep the taskbar on top of other windows is checked Group similar taskbar buttons is not checked Show Quick Launch is checked Show the clock is checked hide inactive icons is not checked I don't know if it has anything to do with the current problem, but the only way I've found of getting to the control panel is via settings in the start menu. I could swear control panel was listed along with drive a, local disk (C drive) on the desktop when I hit enter on My Computer, but there's no item for it with the new hard drive and I'd like to get it back since that's where I'm used to finding it when I go to add/remove programs. You can change this by going to the control panel, and selecting task bar and start menu. When this opens, choose the start menu tab, and make your changes there. One item is giving me fits and I hope someone can tell me which item in the instructions for configuring XP Home with SP 2 to work best with JAWS needs to be changed or can help me understand what my tech did. One problem is that when I want to go to items in the Programs sub-menu, JAWS announces Accessories unavailable submenu at least half the time and first letter navigation in programs is iffy. If For example, a few minutes ago, pressing J only announced JFW 7.1 and 8.0 even though other versions of JAWS are on the machine. The following items are in the start menu when I hit the Windows key: Microsoft Update New Office Document Open Office Document Set Program Access and Defaults Windows Catalog Windows Update Programs Documents Settings Search Help and Support Run... Log Off MARGARET... When I get the accessories unavailablee sub-menu and arrow down I get Inachis JAWS 7.10 JAWS 8.0 Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal Outlook Express Windows Media Player ----- Original Message ----- If I up arrow , I get Windows Movie Maker and if I down arrow 1 time, I get the accessories submenu spoken correctly with Accessibility Communications Entertainment System Tools Address Book Calculator Command Prompt Notepad Paint Program Compatibility Wizard Remote Desktop Connection Scanner and Camera Wizard Synchronize Tour Windows XP Windows Explorer listed in it Right arrowing to open it doesn't always work. I finally had a sighted person here this morning to see if she could tell what was going on, but something if messed up with my setup and the monitor only worked with the 98 machine and nothing showed on the monitor with the XP running. IE 7 is on the XP. Any help in getting this straightened out would be greatly appreciated. I noticed that a bunch of items in "All Users" had also disappeared and started your instructions at "C" to do the whole hard drive. Do you know if the radio button for Open each folder in the same window or Open each folder in its own window should be checked? The original instructions I had to configure XP to use with JAWS didn't mention it and I think it's partly where I ran amuck. Open each folder in the same window is checked at the moment.
