Hi: I have been having some of the same problems, but I'm wondering if there is a program running in the background that's interfeering with JAWS. On Sundays, we back up my system onto an external hard drive. While the back up program is running JAWS does this on a continual basis. I've also found that if you are running MS Word with certain other programs, strange things like this can happen.
