I think you have 2 options. 1. Download a PDF password cracker. I had a utility called Advance PDF Password remover which was accessible with the Jaws cursor. I cannot locate it and it is probably on another PC in the house but basically using a utility like this will remove the copy protection and you will be able to open the file directly in Text Aloud. I have done the very same thing in the past. I am not sure if this utility is still available in accessible form - you did have to purchase it but others may do the same job.
2. Some copy protected files enable printing. If this is so and you have Microsoft Office then change the printer in the print dialogue box to Microsoft Office Document Image Writer. Once this has been printed Document Image application will open and you can run OCR from this on the Tools menu. Once OCR has finished go to Tools menu again and click "send Text to Word." Agree that all pages should be sent and Word will open with a htm version of the Acrobat file. You can then use this document to port your text into Text Aloud. OCR results have proved pretty good for me in the past. Pesky Acrobat that we have to go to all this trouble. I downloaded the file, but cannot open it with Text Aloud because it says the file is copy protected. Is there a way around this using Text Aloud. I'd rather not use Adobe unless I absolutely have to. Thanks.
