Hi Donnie,

The instructions that were listed work for Outlook 2002 and Outlook 2003. I
believe the same thing will work for Outlook 2007 although I haven't tried
it on Outlook 2007 yet.

As for Outlook 2000, the procedure is slightly different. I haven't used
Outlook 2000 for some time and I am trying to remember where the option to
compact folders and files is. I think you need to go to the tools menu and
click on the services option. Next, I think you click the personal folders
option and the properties tab or button. The next dialog box should have a
button or option to compact the folders. I believe this option is on the
general tab, but it may be on the advanced tab.

I can't remember exactly where this option is, but I hope this helps you
find it.

Ryan

Hey Ryan,

I tried to do this in Outlook 2000 and it doesn't seem to work. What
version of Outlook are you
using?

Hi,

Have you tried compacting your PST files? To do this, go to the file menu in
Outlook and then select the data file management option.

Press the tab key and you should then be in a list view showing a list of
your PST folders. Select the personal PST folder file and then press the
tab key until you reach the settings button. Press the space bar and a
dialog will open. Press the tab key until you reach the compact now button.
Press the space bar and your personal folder file will be compacted.

Hopefully, this will solve your problem.

Ryan

Subject: [JAWS-Users] outlook sluggish problem

hello list,
i am using microsoft outlook 2003 with no add-ins.
well, let me clarify my self, i was using outlook 2003.
how ever, the main reason why i had to switch to outlook express is because
outlook will get so unresponsive to the point ware you need to debug jaws
and reload it.
this problem occures when i am checking my e-mails, and because i have over
80 a day, it just completely locks up.
it also happens when i send e-mails with over 1 meg attachments.
i was once sending a audio file explaining to my teacher why we couldn't use
WPA on the braillenote, and it completely locked up.

any help will be apriciated,
orhan.
