Hi, Chris,
If you notice the most sluggishness when trying to enter links on a web page 
in IE 7, you may have the fishing option enabled in the "security settings" 
dialog.  I'll have to ask around, but that is the first thing I can think of 
that might make IE slow.  Before going back to JAWS 7, you could try (aside 
from turning that security setting off) using Firefox or downgrading to IE6. 
I've been using Firefox ever since I accidentally upgraded to IE 7 and find 
it much faster and lighter.  I downgraded to 6 when I reformatted recently, 
since I still use IE for some things; it is also faster than 7.
There may also be some other settings in 7 that you can tweak to make it 
faster; I'll have to ask those more knowledgeable than I. <grin>
