Hi thanks for the suggestions. I'll give it a look see. Who knows. Although, I have to say, even when I run the version that works for me, JAWS 7, with Internet Explorer 7, JAWS is as remarkably responsive as it's always been for me... granted JAWS 7 is not completely compatible with IE 7 (which is why this fact does me no good).
On the other hand, JAWS 9 used in conjunction with both Internet Explorer 6 or 7 is consistently sluggish. I'm far from convinced that it's anything as simple as other programs hogging memory, some spyware, different versions of IE, etc, but I have no choice at this point but to try anything and everything. I can no longer keep using JAWS 7 for my Web purposes. Ultimately, I'll have to work with FS on this, I'm relatively certain--which makes me nervous because when there's a glitch of some kind the advice I often receive is to wait for the next release when all attempts to track down a problem fail. Not to say their technical support isn't helpful. They are. But this problem is so baffling. With JAWS 7 purring like a kitten and JAWS 8 and 9 crawling like a turtle, I hope the reason for my pessimism for finding a solution makes sense. But I'll try to put on a happy face and keep on trying. Thanks again. Chris Feist - The one and only! -----Original Message----- On Behalf Of Erin B. Edgar Chris, I asked a friend about possible programs which may "hog" memory, and these were the suggestions I got. In IE7, turn off phishing (ph-ishing). This will free up the system a bit when in IE. Also, if running Spybot on the computer, disable TeaTimer. To find out computer hogs, look in task manager under Resources and it helps if you can sort the CPU column. This column sorts the programs by how much of the CPU's processing power they use.
