Hi Jo, You need MS Word to open this file. The file extension, .doc, is the old file extension for MS Word prior to Word 2007, & possibly 2003, but I'm not sure about 2003. If you have a newer version of Word installed, you will also need to have the, Compatibility Pack, installed. This program allows newer versions of Office to open, read, & edit older files from older Office versions.
If you need to know how to assign a program to open this file, now this is a totally different set of steps. First we need to know if you have Office installed, & possibly what operating system you're running depending on your needs. Take care, Mike. Sennt from my iBarstool. Hi All, I received a .doc document, but I can't read it. I'm informed that I need to create something in the control panel. As you can all see, I'm not familiar with this. I've been using JAWS for many years, but have never come across this situation. I know that many of you out there will know what the heck I'm talking about and will be able to help me. Thanks for any suggestions you may have.
