i think that only applies to solid state drives;
they use what is called a trim command. but i have also heard on the leo leport
radio show that s s d drives slow down over time and doing a defrag every few
years will bring back the speed it has when its new.
but don't do this very often because the memory cells wear out faster the more
you write to the drive.

Hi Kevin,
You don't need one as Windows 10 automatically defragments your drive as you
go along, in other words, it's a running process now, as opposed to you
doing it manually, hence why people tell you that a defragmenter isn't worth
it.
