I like that WindowEyes idea for doing it. -----Original Message----- From: Orlando Enrique Fiol Sent: Wednesday, October 18, 2017 11:02 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] adding accent marks with JAWS At 05:44 PM 10/18/2017, Vicki W. wrote: >Is there a way to have JAWS automatically add accent marks in a foreign >language word when writing in English? >For example, if I were to write the name Therese which is a French name >but I am writing the document in English, can the correct accent marks >be either added or automatically set to add any time I write the name? Only an internal spell checker could accomplish this automatically and consistently. If you're working in an application with a spell checker, you could add the accented words to its dictionary. >If I need to add them manually, how can I locate them on the keyboard? >Not all of them are on the standard typing keyboard. This definitely makes sense. Insert+4 will open a dialogue of symbols you can insert; these include grave and acute accents, the Spanish N with tilde and other assorted symbols. However, the symbol must be selected either using the arrow keys or by typing the first letter. By contrast, Window-eyes had a Word Accent app where a hotkey could be assigned to each accent type, followed by the letter to be accented. This is much more efficient than navigating a list for every accented letter.
