Perhaps paste the text from Notepad into a completely new Word document. Sometimes deleting the entire text doesn't delete all formatting. Another possibility is that your default document settings are causing you to retain some formatting. For example, I have word defaults set to double spacing, indented paragraphs, page numbering and suppress page 1 page numbering. I'm not sure how paragraph marks would be saved in a default format, but I've never tried and don't plan to.

I suspect you just need to delete the Word document text before you paste the Notepad text back. Steps: Select all in Word Ctrl C copy Del to clean it out. Open Notepad Ctrl V to paste Esc to remove highlight Ctrl A to select again Ctrl C to copy Go back to the empty Word document Ctrl V to paste. I am intrigued by those other suggestions of Alt + H + E and alt, ctrl, shift, S with F6. Have to try them some time.
