This is happening because if you simply click on a link to open a PDF document it will normally not be readable with JAWS unless the document is one that can be opened with Adobe or some other conversion program. Otherwise, there is nothing but silence.
The solution is to find the link to the PDF document, press the third key on the row above the numpad, and then scroll down to "save target as." Save the PDF somewhere on the computer where you can find it; then locate the saved file and then open the PDF with whatever conversion software you are using. If the PDF is an image or picture with no text, there is no solution, as far as I know. Respectfully, Russell J.
