I think each person has to decide what sort of work he or she wants or is 
educated to do and then decided where jaws and scanning software would fit 
in.  For example, if you want to sell something such as a produuct you make 
or something you would distribute, you would do well to learn some web 
design and the rest of the necessary jaws/computer skills to suit that need. 
If you want to be a teacher, learn what you need to know to get the 
education and then develop the computer skills necessary to carry out your 
duties as a teacher.    I've been learning jaws and other computer skills 
for about ten years but mostly for my own enjoyment and information 
gathering.  You have to decide what you want to be able to do and then focus 
onthat rather than learning how to fly when the only thing you want to do is 
get on a plane.  marilyn
