If you turn off JAWS and do alt-spacebar, does the menu open??

I have also confirmed that it also happens with Jaws 9, so I'm beginning to
think that, either a repair of Jaws is in order, or checking my Windows
settings to find out if anything is taking focus away from this keystroke.
