Not defragging is like blindly hoping you can walk downa four lane highway,
and not get hit. You're just asking for problems, and money will eventually
need to be spent on an upgraded, and there much more stable computer. Then
again, some of us just limp along with what we have, the old if it ain't
broke don't fix it mentality.

Defragging does not put additional wear and tear on a hard drive. These
things are designed to work for at least 100,000 hours. There are 8,400
hours in a year. Do the math. You could defrag every single day and not
come close to the limits a drive is designed to work for over the time you
will own it.

I always went for the presumption that if the defragmenter tells you that
"this volume doesn't require defragmenting..." or whatever, then don't do
it, otherwise you'll cause unnecessary wear and tear on the hard drive.
