I wonder about solid state drives. This ThinkPad has a 64 gig solid state hard drive. While the structure might become fragmented I wonder just how likely it is to interfere with performance. Probably a very little.

I always went for the presumption that if the defragmenter tells you that "this volume doesn't require defragmenting..." or whatever, then don't do it, otherwise you'll cause unnecessary wear and tear on the hard drive.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Defragging

Hi all. I'm considering defragging my hard drive, but I had a strange issue that I'm wondering about. When I do it, and hit theanalyze button I'm told that this drive doesn't need to be defragged. I have never defragged my hardrive, so I was wondering why I was getting this message. Should I defrag any way? I'm using windows XP sp 3.
