Most of your routers will have 4 ports connected directly to the
router, and more wireless connections than you can want. the better
routers have a DMZ port that can handle up to 250 wired computers connected.
however, you have to remember the more computers you have connected
at one time using the Internet. The more you are sharing the
connection. For example if you have 20 down and 5 up. With 5
computers connected and running at once. they will each only have 4
down and 1 up. most of the time its not noticeable, but sometimes the
lag will be there.
now another thing about wireless connections is cordless phones. they
run on the same frequency as the router. your newer phones don't but
the old cheaper do. They will kill a connection fast if the base or
phone is near them. And it also depends on how far the connection has
to go. Most will only guaranty sight of line to the router. Witch
means if you can see the router you can connect.

Hi
Adding to this I was wondering if there are routers to deal with
severall computers as just opposed to say just two. We have five
PC's on our router andn sometimes we have problems wit one of them
connecting, just wondering if there were routers for dealing with
more Pc's and whether we should be investing in a better router.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Two questionsabout my router.
Good afternoon everyone
On wednesday of this week, I am going to change my internet
service provider from Verizon's dsl service too that of time Warner
Cable's road runner service. My two questions are as follows.
First, I don't remember what kind of wireless routerthat I have
installed on this computer, as it was installed about two or three
years ago. Is there a way that I can find out this information
before Wednesday? Second, is it easy to setup and configure the new
settings for the router through time warner? how would I go aboute
doing this, as I have never done anything like this before and am
very afraid of making a terrible mistake. There asking for an
additional50 dollars for setting up the router. Do you folks think
that I should let them do this? or should I try it on my own with
your help and advice. I'm using jaws 10 with windows xp home
addition with service pack three. s
