Hi, Elaine: the chattering isn't my problem at this point. Maybe if I just get jaws 10 installed and set up properly, I'll want to go to a higher level than the beginner level. All I'm trying to do right now is get jaws 10 to echo characters when I type. I'm back to jaws 9 which is working fine. Thanks. Marilyn
