Could the lap top be set to turn off after fifteen minutes--or
another period of time--inactivity? Since you're not pressing enter,
maybe it thinks it's supposed to go to sleep.
In Control panel, power options, you can see what your computer
thinks it's going to do if idle for a long period. Lap tops are set
by default to conserve battery, so maybe since you're not doing
anything the lap top thinks it shouldn't do anything either and puts
itself to sleep. I set my lap top to the desk top setting, never to
shut down automatically no matter how long it's idle.
