I just saw your message and went browsing through the Outlook Express menus. In the edit menu, there is a selection that says "mark all as read" and the hot key is control plus Q. For marking as unread, it says N. It did not say control N, but I didn't try it. Anyway, the hot keys of course just keep you from having to go into the menu and search out the function. Hope this helps as far as an explanation goes.

Hi Glenn,

Control + Q is not a keystroke that I am familiar with. Would you please
tell me what task this keystroke performs? Thanks much. Take care.
Mike

Here's what I do using OE. Once my messages have come in I simply do a
control A to select all and then a Control Q and I then don't hear any of
 that.

Yes I have tried those suggestions but they are still showing as unread.
