Mike & Gerald, I changed the subject line to reflect the change in focus.
Thanks, got the file downloaded ok and will shoot for tomorrow evening. In reading the article, sounds like some of the notifications etc are done by changing colors etc, not great for us blind folk. For those that have installed, are their audio prompts when a virus or issue is discovered that requires one to do something? For instance with Avast, which I currently have, their is an audio message when the product updates and a loud alarm when it finds a potential threat. Any other useful hints anyone has prior to me installing MSE? thanks Al -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]on Behalf Of Mike & Barbara Sent: Monday, November 16, 2009 10:45 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] AVG Free enough Hi Alan, This is from another email list. Don't bother with the MS web site, Instead, visit the web site below and arrow down to the three links in the body of the article to download MSE. Select the link appropriate for your OS, and your download will start immediately. As long as you have a genuine copy of Windows, the set-up and installation should be a breeze. There is no captcha, registration or special configuration settings to deal with. http://arstechnica.com/microsoft/news/2009/09/first-look-mic rosoft-security-essentials-impresses.ars Gerald ----- Original Message ----- From: Alan & Terrie Robbins To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, November 16, 2009 7:07 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] AVG Free enough Gerald, I have been contemplating switching to MSE but still have Avast. When you click on the link you discuss, does it download the file as an executable file you can keep on your computer and then launch and install when ready or does it simply download and install the current version from the website? The reason I ask is I would have to uninstall Avast first and would not want to do that and then have to go out on the web unprotected to download MSE thanks Al For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
