Hi As stated you can change the keyboard layout in the Basics entry of the JAWS Options menu. When the keyboard layout is set to desktop, the laptop key settings will not work. But when the keyboard layout is set to laptop, both the laptop key settings and the desktop key settings that are invoked from the numpad work. No need to switch back and forth. The major difference with the laptop keyboard layout on is that you have to hit caps lock twice to turn on or off caps lock mode. Also if you run JAWS from the system tray, you still hit insert+j to invoke the JAWS menus, not caps lock+j..

Hello. JFW 11 help gives a whole bunch of laptop keystrokes e.g. caps lock plus P activates the PC cursor and caps lock plus semicolon activates the Jaws/mouse cursor and so on. I almost always use the external kbd with its num pad. with this ext kbd connected I did try the above keystrokes and neither worked anyway close to the couple examples I give above. do I need to go somewhere on my laptop into some JAWS settings and change some config setting to laptop or such? If yes, is there a hot key or a shortcut keystroke combo I can use to rapidly switch between ext kbd with the num pad and the laptop kbd otherwise it would be too much of a drag so to speak? thx.
