I believe that I can iron out some of these wrinkles a bit. I had all of
the voices offered by Freedom Scientific in a folder which I transferred
from my 32 bit laptop to my new 64 bit desktop system. None of the voices
would work. I received a warning indicating that these programs would not
operate in a 64 bit environment. However, I did find that if I downloaded
the voices from Freedom Scientific again, they would work just as well in my
64 bit system as they did in the 32 bit laptop. I don't really know the
logistics of this situation and I am certainly no computer geek. But based
on personal experience, apparently the Real Speak solo voices will work if
you go to the web site and download them individually. My only conclusion
is that those voices have to be configured for either 32 or 64 bit systems
when they are downloaded.
WARNING! SYSTEM RESTORE!
If you find it necessary to execute a System Restore, you may find that the
Real Speak Solo Voices, although they appear to be in the system, do not
work. You have to re-install them again from the web site.
Now, I hope I haven't confused anyone even more.
