I first researched the application...Google worked well for doing that. If it was something that proved to not be crucial for the laptop, I first removed it from start-up in MSCONFIG. Then I uninstalled it. You would not necessarily have to uninstall it. I just chose to have it gone as I was never going to use it. I hope this helps.
