When my computer is getting a bit slow, I do the following:
run disk defrag
clear temp and cache files
run spyware/malware removal tools
clear out unwanted cookies
This does the trick for me; individual results may vary.

Hi all. My computer is running extremely slowly. I know I have
way too many processes running in the background, but every time I
go into task manager and stop them, they just start up again when I
reboot. I have no idea what to do, so whatever help you can give
