Hi Brian; I have tried to save a Word template as a, Normal.dot, several times but, it keeps reverting back to prior settings. What i'm doing is opening a new Word Doc, document 1, making the settings the way I would like them to be each time I open a new Word doc, from the save as type list, I save it as, Document Template (*.dot), & name it, Normal.dot
Am I not naming , saving, or what correctly? I have tried making changes to the Normal.dot file in my templates folder in Documents & Settings but, it still the reverts back to the old settings after a short while. I am running Office / Word 2002 & Jaws 10, 11, 12. All help will be greatly appreciated in getting this little issue resolved. Thanks much. Take care. Use up arrow to the choice for unformatted text and press enter key. This should paste your information without hyperlinks. If by chance you are using Alt+CTRL+V for something else such as the volume control, in Word 2010 you can apply a keystroke to the "keep text only" function. If using Word 2010 do the following if you want to apply a keystroke to the "keep text only" function: 1. Press Alt+F to use the File button and then press T to open the options dialog. 2. Press C while focus is in the categories list to move to the "customize ribbon" choice. 3. Use tab key to the "customize" button and press spacebar. 4. In the resulting categories list press the letter A until "all commands" is selected. 5. Use tab key to the list of all commands, which might take a couple seconds to populate. 6. Press the letter P and then use a page down key about six times and arrow down to the "paste text only choice. 7. Use tab key to move to the box where you can type in a new shortcut key. I use Alt+Shift+T. 8. Use tab key again to move to the combo box where you choose the template to save your changes. If you save changes in the normal.DOTM template then the keystroke will apply in any new document where you use the applied keystroke. If you want it only for the current document then use down arrow in this combo box and make the appropriate choice. 9. Use tab key to the "assign" button and press spacebar. 10. Use tab key to the "close" button and use spacebar. 11. Use tab key to the OK button and use spacebar. Take care. I wanted to paste an online text doc with links built in to every other word into an MS Word doc and make all the links disappear without taking out the associated word. I was trying to help out Wayne, who was trying to cut and paste without the word link showing up in his document. Wayne is using JAWS 11, so I was restricting my experiments to that. Then folks said that it could be done, so I wanted to know how, since I wasn't able to figure out how to do it, which you can't, as I already knew. So, I wasn't trying to make it stop saying link for myself, I was trying to help out someone else. As for why you would want it to stop saying link? Well, most of the time it doesn't matter, but there are many web pages, take a look at any wikipedia article, where every other word is a link, and it is quite distracting to read it with every third word being link. So, even though I might not want to turn it off all the time, it would be nice to turn it off some of the time. I do turn off the stating start and end list announcements as I find that not terribly useful most of the time. The fact that you can do it in JAWS 12, is great, and I will do that, but Wayne was working in JAWS 11 so I was going that route.
