Hi Dan; You are definitely correct. I thought unchecking 1 of those boxes on the Links page would do it but, I was wrong. I even played in verboscity settings & couldn't stop Jaws from saying " link ". I have never tried Flor's suggestion but, it sounds like you have & it wouldn't work either. Hopefully someone will have an answer for you. Take care. Mike

I am using JAWS 11 with XP and IE 8. I was the person who first mentioned configuration manager, html options, links. As far as I can tell, none of those options stop JAWS from saying the word "link" when you arrow over a link on a web page. There is a control that says, "Say link type". From my investigation, this does not stop JAWS from saying link, or visited link, but does stop it from saying "mailto link" just saying link instead. Flor, I did look at the links list, and I see no option that pertains to the vocalization of the word "link" when moving over links on a web page. I see that you can choose what types of links, visited, not visited, all, that appear in the list, I see radio buttons for how you can order the links in the list. I see controls for moving to the link. I do not see any controls for saying or not saying "link". Possibly I am being too hasty and not investigating closely enough, but I've been through both of those dialogues and have experimented with several controls, but have not found a way to get JAWS to stop saying "link" while arrowing around a web page. -- Blue skies.
