Hello there;

The instructions I sent in, pertain to dell laptops, I'm not sure about
other models of laptops.

When I googled 'unlock function' one of the alternatives was to use 
shift-f11.  that didn't work for me.  But the mobility center 
did.  It isn't accessible on my computer with JAWS.  but at least it 
isn't the bios.
