Guess what??? That G8 article site I could not get to with IE and JFW14 came up immediately with my just-now-installed FoxFire browser and JFW14... so it is definitely a browser issue!
I use BitDefender (a very good security program) but my computer was a custom- so may not have any JAVA installed. I will take your suggestion and check.
