My messages don't get marked as read till I open them.

Hi Maria,

I understand to be the default setting of thunderbird, however, choosing this setting results in the messages being marked read the moment you move your cursor to them or highlight them, which is a very bad setting by all means. an ideal solution is to let the message be marked read once it has been opened, but in this case it doesn't seem to happen! any ideas?
thank you!!

I don't know if I can help.
In the advanced menu, under options, in the reading and display tab, I check automatically mark as read, as well as immediately on display.
This way JAWS says unread but says nothing for read messages.

Hi all, Greetings.

even before I share my concern, I would like to express my sorrow about the loss of blind-computing list. it because of the lack of that list that i had to think about the appropriateness of posting my question to this list. Although i have had this concern for a very long time, but it made me wonder, if it was within the list guidelines or not. Anyway, guess, I should move to my question now....

I have recently started using the portable version of Thunderbird from

portableapps.com

among a number of options i have configured is the option of not marking the mails automatically read once a particular mail gets highlighted. as a result, the mails, don't get marked read on their own. however, contrary to outlook, live mail & many more other email clients, the mails don't get marked read even after i open & read them. as a result, i have to go about marking each read mail as read on my own manually.

any solutions?

thank you!
