Hi Lenny,

When in the processes page of the task manager see if there is a More
Details button. I am not using Windows 7 but I think there should be such a
button that will show more of the running processes. Even if you find the
Windword.exe processes and end the tasks that really will only cause you to
not have to restart your system. You might also want to check your folder
where documents are saved and see if the owner versions of documents are
being deleted by Word when you close documents. These files start with a
tilde followed by a dollar sign and then the rest of the file name. If
these are not being deleted by Word because of documents not being shut down
correctly then the type of error message you are getting can result.
Deleting them and restarting your system might or might not help. You might
consider doing a repair on the Office installation. If you have Microsoft
Office go to Programs and Features in the control panel. In the list of
installed programs find Microsoft Office. If you have Word that is not part
of an Office installation then find that program in the list. Use the
application key and choose the "change" menu item. In the resulting dialog
choose the repair button and then follow prompts. It will take a while to
complete.

Hopefully, this will work for you.

Take care.

Hello Lenny, When you opened the task manager did you go to the processes
page tab? It sounds like you might have just checked the applications that
were open in the application page. Use Ctrl with tab key in the task
manager to get to the processes tab and then check the list of items for
more than one listing of the winword.exe process. Use the end task button
if you find winword.exe. This might not be the case but if all you found
were listings for the 3 applications that were open at the time then you
might not have been in the processes page of the dialog. I hope you get it
worked out. Take care. Brian Lee
