Joseph, I am now using IE8 and the problem starts when I try to install IE9
from the windows update notification. It seems that the update not only
tries to install IE9 but also continues on and tries to install IE10 also
and loccks up the computer. This is my backup computer. I have another
fairly new computer with W7, latest jaws and IE10 and it works great. I
installed IE9 and IE10 on that computer without any problems. I want to
try a direct install of IE9 on the backup computer and see how this works
out.

HI Fred,

Launch Internet Explorer and press Alt+H for Help then press letter A for
about. Use your jaws cursor to determine the version of Internet Explorer
you are currently using.

Please convey this information as it would narrow down the possibilities;
the less possibilities the faster you can implement the best solution.
<Smile>. For example, if you are running Internet Explorer 10 then you will
end up with Internet Explorer 9, or you will end up with Internet Explorer
8, which mean you can then install Internet Explorer 9. It begins to get
confusing which is why I'm suggesting we first figure out for absolute
certainty which version of Internet Explorer you are using.

If you cannot wait for additional feedback from the list, you can download
Internet Explorer 9 from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/internet-explorer-9-details.aspx

I suggest you really, really consider why you feel you need Internet
Explorer 9 over Internet Explorer 8. I have found that downloading files is
significantly easier and faster using Internet Explorer 8. Internet
Explorer
10 is almost identical to IE9, so you would not really notice much of a
performance increase moving from 9 to 10 or from 10 to 9. I personally
don't like the extra security steps necessary to download a file when using
Internet Explorer 9 and Internet Explorer 10, but I'm here to answer your
question, not mine. <Smile>.

Worst case scenario, we can always uninstall Internet Explorer 9 or
Internet Explorer 10 and go right back to Internet Explorer 8. Rather than
to waste that kind of time, why not first determine the pros and cons of
your current decision to move to Internet Explorer 9. <Smile>.

Joseph

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Problems installing IE9

I am using W7, Latest jaws and IE8 browser and trying to install IE9 from
windows updates. I have tried to install IE9 many times from the windows
updates but it always locks up my computer. It seems to try installing IE9
and IE10 at the same time and locks up my computer everytime. Does anyone
have a direct download for IE9 that you could pass on to me? I would
appreciate it very much. I looked over the jaws-users home site but
couldn't find anything there. Thanks much,
