Okay, try one more thing. On the JAWS Options menu, in the Basics dialog, uncheck the box to start JAWS from the System Tray, and then restart your computer. When JAWS comes up speaking, unload it with Insert-F4 as you normally would and then relaunch it with your hot key. Perhaps another running program is preventing JAWS from unloading completely, and so you are unable to relaunch it with your hot key. By unloading and relaunching JAWS with no other programs running, you may be abel to determine whether one of your running applications is somehow interfering with JAWS and preventing it from unloading completely. I don't know whether this will work, but it's worth a shot.

When you have shut down JAWS, tgo to your Windows Run box (Windows r) and
there type in jaws14 (unspaced); and Then press ENTER.

When you attempt to set up the hot key, do not shift+tab back while doing
it. Just go forward with the tab key.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS Fails To Restart

I am running JAWS 14 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine. I am getting very
frustrated with a problem that I have had for quite some time now. I
have a
hot key assigned to JAWS. Every time I have to turn JAWS off by using
JAWS
Key plus F4, my hot key will not start JAWS again. I have tried
changing
the hot key combo several times, but nothing seems to work. The only
way I
can get JAWS to work again is to restart my computer. I have even
tried
reverting back to JAWS 13 and JAWS 12, and I still get the same
results.
Can someone please tell me what my problem might be?

Thanks,
Donnie
