Hi Flor,
The, F, lock key is directly to the right of the F12 key. I've done
numerous searches to find a layout for this particular keyboard & I'm
only
finding images of the damn thing. So far, Google has not been my
friend!
LOL, hahaha hahaha hahaha, LOL
When pressing the key located where the right side Windows / Start
menu key
is supposed to be in conjunction with other keys, the computer does
nothing.
Maybe this key will only work with the software installed. Please
don't get
me wrong, the keyboard works fine but, I use that right side Windows /
Start
Menu Key, a lot! I run a program called, WinKey, & I have many
shortcut
keystrokes that are assigned to this key if it were there but, not
with this
keyboard obviously! Thank you very much for all your help.
Take care.
Mike

Mike,
OK. You're dealing here with the F LOCK Key, which is apparently OFF.
(If not, you'd know this by pressing one of the FUNCTION KEYS, as
they've been changed to do alternative functions if the F LOCK key is
enabled. What were the Microsoft guys thinking when they designed
that?
(Your guess is better than mine!)
The keyboard software configuration may be something called
IntelliType
Pro. You may need to install it from the CD to reassign the key - if
that's possible. But, there are other alternatives.
First, Take a look at the Microsoft article, at:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894037
etc. The second alternative I believe is that you could ring Microsoft
Accessibility and ask them to change the functionality of the F Lock
key. (You guys are lucky to have this telephone access. Not every
country has!)

Hi Flor,
It is a Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000 keyboard. I bought this from
Amazon
through 1 of their dealers, Dependable Resources, almost 2 years ago
&
I'm
just getting around to trying it out.
It does have an application key where it's supposed to be, as a
matter
of
fact, the keyboard is just like a standard keyboard except for it not
having
a right side Windows / Start Menu Key & the extra 15 or 16 extra
function
keys above the, F, keys.
Take care.
Mike

Mike,
is there a model name/number for the keyboard, do you know? Then
perhaps we can get a description of this kiey's functionality from
somewhere. Do you have sufficient contact details (email addy, etc.)
for
the selling owner? Does the keyboard have an Applications key, and
where
is it? (It should be next the right-windows key if that's present,
which
it seems to be.)

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your reply. I tried Jaws keyboard help using several
keystrokes with this, folders key, & Jaws didn't once mention this
particulaar key.
Take care.

Hi
One thing you can try is the turn on the keyboard help mode by
pressing
JAWSkey+numrow 1. Then press the key to see what JAWS says it is.
If
it
doesn't say anything, try pressing and holding it and press a letter
key to
see what is says. If JAWS recognizes the key, it will say
KeyName+letter.
But if it just says the letter, it is probably something like the FN
key
that never gets past to Windows. In that case, I doubt you can map
it
to
something else. Type JAWSkey+numrow 1 again to turn off keyboard
help
mode.
If JAWS does say what the key is, you can try creating a Default.jkm
file in
your JAWS user settings directory and include entries like
[Common Keys]
KeyName=ScriptName
Where ScriptName is the name of a script found in the Default.JSS
file
in
the JAWS shared settings folder. This Default.jkm file will not
interfere
with the JAWS sup[plied Default.jkm file. As far as I know, the
shift, caps
lock, control, windows and alt keys cannot be mapped in a JKM file.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Keystroke Functionn, How Do I Change 1
Hi All,
I'm running XP Pro, Jaws 13 thru 15, & a Microsoft Desktop 3000
wireless
keyboard. In the place where the right Windows Key is normally,
there is a
button / key with a picture of 3 folders. I have no clue as to what
this
key does. Is there any way to change the function of this key to
the
function of a Windows Key? Or, is there a way of swapping the
functions of
the left Windows Key and the key with the key with the pictures of 3
folders? All advice & help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you
all
very, very much.
Take care.
Mike
