Hi,

It has crossed my mind to consider it. Just how involved is it? I mean do they 
route you around several deppartments before you get where you need to be?

  Because of its high vulnerability to hacker attacks, I uninstalled JRE from
  my XP system some time ago, which did not affect the performance of Adobe
  Reader in any way.  So I don't think installing JRE will resolve your
  problem with Adobe Reader, and it could make your system less secure.
