I think you should be pressing alt d or the alternative f6 key. Then you should be able to copy to clipboard.
The alt a brings up favorites in IE.

address of a web page into the address bar and then press Control-C to copy it to the clipboard, 
JAWS announces "copy line" instead of "copy selected text to clipboard", and I
