You probably have a program group for Office 2013 branching off your start menu 
(sorry I have no direct experience with Win 8).  You can either create an 
Office shortcut for your desktop, or a Word shortcut for your desktop.  It may 
not sound like much, but it'll save you time and keystrokes in the long run.
