Excuse me, but exactly how was I complaining about Windows 10? I merely
pointed out that there are driver issues to consider before upgrading. My
post was most certainly on topic for this list, but if you believe
otherwise, then take it up with the moderators. And if you are happy with
Windows 10, then more power to you.

Your advice is right-on. If you visit the manufacturer's web site to search
for drivers for your peripheral devices, the site will usually detect which
OS you currently have installed and search for drivers for that particular

since Windows 7 will be supported until early 2020. Even Eric Damery has

That's the point those who are imploring everyone to upgrade do not tell
you.
You will encounter driver issues with printers, scanners, DVD
players, USB drives and the list goes on.
If you don't mind loosing the ability to use hardware devices you now
rely on, then go ahead and upgrade to Windows 10.
A smart person would first do research to make sure their PC and all
peripheral devices connected is 100% compatible with an OS before
attempting to use it. If you are one who likes living on the
"Microsoft" edge, then I guess taking such precautions means nothing.

Anna, I'm no expert, but your question made me rethink my response I was
going to offer. kb3035583 does not provide any security patch to a
vulnerability, it is merely an update that reminds and facilitates users
of 7 or 8.1 to reserve the free offer of upgrading to 10. so, I think
not having kb3035583 won't necessarily prevent the computer from being
upgraded to windows 10. as for the upgrade being done automatically, I'm
not sure. but heed Gerald's post about changing the settings from
automatic to manual, and uncheck to get recommended updates. after
7/29/16, all worries of automatically being upgraded to windows 10
should be over, and if you're still on 7 or 8.1, it should be safe to
return windows updates to automatic.

Anna, In the past, I've suggested to uninstall KB3035583, and then hide
it upon checking for updates, but I think what Gerald is implying is
that if you
leave the settings on windows updates to be performed automatically, you
won't have any control as to what gets updated.

how down loads without your knowledge you are litterally going to be in

There is no better time to up grade to win10 than now. It is twice as
fast, JAWS and NVDA work with it great, and it is much easier to
navigate. You also
have cortana which obeys your commands to do things on the computer for
you and to answer many questions. I and many many JAWS and NVDA users
have already
upgraded to win10 and love it and will never look back. Please quit
being afraid to explore the unknown. It just might be 10 times more
rewarding when
you finally get the nerve to explore and find your reward. Have a good
one.

A windows update which came down yesterday afternoon, installed Win10
without my permission. The automatic update brought up a screen about
downloading Win10. MS had downloaded Win10 months ago, but this screen

me question what I knew. There were 2 options- "download and upgrade"

"download but do not upgrade". I selected the last option- thinking that
either I had been mistaken about Win10 already being fully downloaded or
that the major updates to Win10 required a new download of Win10.
However, after the download, I started seeing a 'preparing to install'
message and this morning was presented with a license accept screen. I
called the accessibility desk to uninstall and hide this update. I don't
plan on installing till early spring when I will have more time. I
