Hello Reed,

If you use Alt followed by H followed by W you are placed in the New items
list. Use up arrow twice to find the New Text File option. This can be
done whether or not an item is selected in the current list of files. You
can press the application key followed by W to get this New items list but
only if no item is selected in the current list of files and folders. You
would need to use CTRL with spacebar to remove selection first if you do it
that way.

Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] How to create new items in File Explorer

Hello,

In Windows 7, Windows Explorer, I could hit Alt+F then W to get a list of
new items to create. From this list, I could choose Folder, text file,
excel workbook, etc.

Is there such a method of creating new items in Windows 10 File Explorer? I
know about the Control+Shift+N to create a new folder. I'm particularly
interested in how to create a new text file.

I don't see this topic discussed in any guide to File Explorer that I've
found.

Thanks,

Reed
