Mike,

Yes, I unloaded and reloaded JAWS each time, and yes, I've deleted the
clipboard numerous times.

Right now, I'm finding that shift-tabbing from the message field to the subject
line and tabbing back again stops JAWS from verbalizing the clipboard. It's a
relatively fast workaround. But I still hope there's an actual solution.

Hi Adrian,

After removing the ENU Files & replacing them, did you unload & restart Jaws?
Also, what happens if you delete the contents of the clipboard? I just wonder
if deleting the contents of the clipboard will stop the clipboard from showing
/ interfering with Jaws. Also, maybe someone will clear this up because I
don't know if the Clipboard is a part of Windows Explorer, or the operating
system, & Office & Outlook have commands to access it, or if the Clipboard is
actually a part of the Office / Outlook program.
Take care.
Mike

At the risk of trying everyone's patience, here's the next installment. This is
the problem where JAWS verbalizes a clipboard, possibly the Office clipboard,
when I open an Outlook 2010 message or start replying to a message. It all
started after I experimented with the Office clipboard settings.

As far as I can tell, disabling the Office clipboard doesn't solve the problem
I'm having, which is that JAWS will verbalize clipboard contents when I open a
new message. I could be wrong, but although I can't confirm when the clipboard
is disabled, I've followed the steps to disable it.

After a long talk with Mike B, I established one new fact and tried a new
approach. The new fact is that Outlook works fine with JAWS 17. This surely
confirms that the problem I'm having is with JAWS 18.

Mike suggested I try removing certain files from my JAWS 18 ENU folder and
replacing them with the same files from my JAWS 17 ENU folder. Other than an
Outlook.jdf file, the only files that seemed relevant were Outlook.jcf and
Word.jcf. I went ahead, removed them from the J18 ENU folder and replaced them
with the J17 ENU equivalents. Unfortunately, the problem persists.
(I've now restored the original two JCF files to my J18 ENU folder.

Note that before doing all that, I copied both folders and clearly labeled
them. I was super careful not to confuse the files. There were other steps
in-between, but they didn't establish anything.

So, can anyone suggest anything based on this new information? Could another
ENU file possibly be involved?

I haven't upgraded to the current JAWS 18 release. Might doing so solve the
problem? I've already run repairs on both JAWS 18 and Office 2010.

David,

Yesterday I tried this dialog with NVDA and noticed that the control there
(unlike with JAWS) is labeled "Show Office clipboard." That implies it's a
toggle, and what you say here confirms it. Beyond that, NVDA wasn't helpful.
>From what I've read, NVDA now supports Word 2013 and 2016, but not my 2010.

So I just tried your method of determining when the control is disabled and
enabled. I wasn't successful. However, I'll experiment by pressing enter on the
control and working for a while, then going back and pressing enter again. I'll
assume that either the first or second time, pressing enter disabled it. That
way I should figure out if disabling is the answer.

Once again, thanks for all your good advice to list members.

Hello Adrian;
Ok, I played with this a little,
What I found was, you need to turn the office clipboard off, from word.

1, go into word,

Now press alt+h=home
Now, tab and enter on, office clipboard....
You will see that the clip board has been disabled.
You can verify this by routing jaws to pc, you will not see the office
clipboard if it's disabled.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, David. I found the same area in Outlook 2010, which I should have
mentioned I'm using. I'd already unchecked every item in that list, and I just
now went back in to double-check. Any more great ideas to pull out of your bag
of many tricks?

 - Turn the Microsoft Office 2016 or 2013 clipboard features on or off using
these easy steps. In Excel, Word or Powerpoint, select the "Home"
tab. Select the arrow next to "Office Clipboard". Select "Options" at the
bottom-left of the window. Select or deselect options as desired:

Is this the same as a system restore? If so, I've made too many changes to my
system since this problem began. If it's something else, please let me know.
Obviously, I'm not familiar with what that would be.

Hi Adrian
Do you think a windows restore might work?
Computers are weird at times.

Thanks, Annette, but I'm afraid your post shows it doesn't work. I opened your
message and the clipboard text came up. I tried to refresh with insert-escape,
but the clipboard didn't go away. I had to do the alt-enter
dos- à-dos again.

Any other thoughts? This is very distracting.

I wonder if refreshing the screen with Insert+Escape will help.

Ever since I experimented with the Office keyboard, JAWS keeps verbalizing the
clipboard's content everywhere I go. Say I open an email and set it up for
reply, I leave the message, return to the edit field, and all JAWS will do is
read the clipboard. The workaround is to alt-enter out of the email and
alt-enter back in, although who knows why that works. However, it's a nuisance,
and it happens in other contexts as well, interfering with my work.

This afternoon I did a JAWS repair, but it made no difference.

I've unchecked every item in the Office clipboard dialog. Again, no difference.

Any ideas?
