Also, sometimes the original pages of the .pdf document just are larger than
the normal Microsoft Word page size. Once you've changed the formatting (by
saving as accessible text, for example) you will have to work on the Word
Doc if you want to get it back again in Microsoft Word, by re-creating
paragraph breaks, and restoring things like hyphens (if there were any),
etc., and cutting out unwanted space characters. But in all likelihood the
number of pages will have increased over the original (for the reasons
given).

Wayne, at least part of the explanation probably lies in your MS Word
default settings. After pasting a copy of a PDF document into Word, use JAWS
key+f to hear what your font, spacing and other format settings you have set
by default. Each of these can be changed, either for the specific document
or for your default.
Note that the page count makes no difference if you're just reading or
editing it with JAWS. Of course, it does show that the PDF format didn't
carry over perfectly. But if you intend to print out the document, you may
want to change the format settings. If that process is unfamiliar, please
post again.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Multiplication of MS Word pages
Hello good people,
The following happens to me all the time. I just opened a PDF document that
is a book chapter and saved it as Accessible text. I then selected the
entire chapter and then copied and pasted it into an MS Word 2007 blank
document and the text transferred fine. The problem is that a chapter that
is 34 pages has become 86 pages. Any thoughts on the matter?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Wayne
