Thanks-I'll give that a try -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Adrian Spratt Sent: Wednesday, February 01, 2017 9:09 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Multiplication of MS Word pages
Hi again, Wayne. It sounds as though the PDF document wasn't tagged for accessibility, as is often the case. That is, it sounds like the text has been jumbled up so that it doesn't follow the same sequence as the original. When I encounter this problem, sometimes I use the JAWS OCR function and sometimes it does a better job. Again, it won't retain the original formatting, but it may be more faithful to the text. Once I've done the OCR operation with JAWS key+spacebar, then o, then d, I wait sometimes several minutes for the process to end. Then I copy the result into Notepad, which cleans up many format problems, and then copy that result into Word. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of wayne smith Sent: Wednesday, February 01, 2017 7:31 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Multiplication of MS Word pages I will look at the formatting but I don't have to print it. I found some interesting things in reviewing the doc. There are some lists of word with definitions and the definitions appear below the words being defined rather than with them. That may be part of the issue. I am also getting indications of graphics that are not discernible. Thanks and I will keep playing. After pasting a copy of a PDF document into Word, use JAWS key+f to hear what your font, spacing and other format settings you have key+set by default. Each of these can be changed, either for the specific document or for your default. Note that the page count makes no difference if you're just reading or editing it with JAWS. Of course, it does show that the PDF format didn't carry over perfectly. But if you intend to print out the document, you may want to change the format settings. If that process is unfamiliar, please post again. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of wayne smith Sent: Wednesday, February 01, 2017 3:23 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Multiplication of MS Word pages Hello good people, The following happens to me all the time. I just opened a PDF document that is a book chapter and saved it as Accessible text. I then selected the entire chapter and then copied and pasted it into an MS Word 2007 blank document and the text transferred fine. The problem is that a chapter that is 34 pages has become 86 pages. Any thoughts on the matter? Thanks in advance for any help.
