Lois,
Could you have "hide read messages" checked under Current View in
the view menu? I've been known to accidentally hit the keystroke to
mark all messages in a thread as read and they "disappear" on me if I
have hide read messages checked.

deleting messages when about forty of them disappeared. I haven't
found them. Also, jaws wouldn't read the to line when I tried to
compose, and nothing came in. Now it's working again, but the lost
messages are still lost. I thought I may have hit a wrong key while
deleting, but I can't think what. Any ideas?
