Perhaps I'm missing something here, but how could that work? The messages to 
which he would want to reply would have come into his mother's identity or 
his, depending on which one was made the default, and since the e-mail 
address would apparently be the same for both parties, there'd be no way to 
really keep the mail separated by person. It'd just be the luck of the draw 
as to which Inbox any particular set of messages would wind up in and as 
soon as he changed identities in OE, the mail in Inbox #1 would go away. It 
wouldn't be lost, of course, but there very definitely would be two entirely 
separate mail folders on the computer, each with an Inbox, Sent Items, etc.

This is, of course, the ideal solution. But, if it is not possible, you can
always set up a second mail account in the Outlook express, Tools, accounts
area. You can configure it identically to your mother's mail account,
changing only the Name field to your own name, and giving the new account a
distinctive account name. Then, just use this new account when replying to
your own messages.
