Hi Lisa,

If you go to your desktop, highlight My Computer, and hit enter, this will 
open up the list of My computer things you can go into, but if you backspace 
until you can't do anymore backspaces, this will take you to the desktop, 
but in a window you can manage.

This will also give you the advantage of going through your desktop in a 
list format, as opposed to having to hunt them down letter by letter.

After that, it's just a matter of deleting them as you would a normal file.

Deleting these icons will not harm the program, and sometimes, Windows will 
actually tell you that deleting the icon will not delete the program, only 
the shortcut and if you wish to uninstall the program to use the add/remove 
application in your control panel.
