|
| Thats one of the pities of GPL - it protects the code not the people ;(

Actually it protects the code *for* the community that produced the code.

| There is a few other oss solutions out there. I know of two
| groups who were
| put off by jBoss'es license and searched for other OSS ejb servers. Only a
| few are about but

You can't please ALL of the people ALL of the time...

|
| now thats an understatement ;)
|
| And no one has even invoked the wrath of RMS yet ;) Once RMS finds out
| about the project misusing the GPL he will start advocating all the GNU
| peopls stay away from it. His opinions while sometimes a little kafuie are
| generally listened to. See some of the other projects he has attacked and
| you will see a list of projects that have lost a lot of mind
| share compared
| to what they should have (ie KDE, TCL are 2 good examples). Or
| even worse -
| you may get slashdotted ;)

Why exactly are these people angry. Who are these people and why haven't
they taken the common sense approach of voicing their concerns on the jBoss
list?.

I say if they can't be bothered to furnish a reasoned argument to this list
about their GPL/LGPL issues, they aren't worth delibrating licencing changes
over!!

Cheers!,

Micheal

PS Re: RMS - I think it was fair in KDE's case hence their recent
change of license. I don't know enough about the TCL case.
