Dear Friend, It is a great testimony unto the Lord when we are known for our positive reinforcement of others by our uplifting words and actions. We should always be quick to say a kind word about someone else even if that person is not in our presence. Lifting others up instead of bringing them down is a practice that many of us need to adapt. The Lord Jesus declares in Matthew 12:36, Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment. It is important that we keep in mind that not only our actions will be judged, but our words will be judged as well. We must realize that the scripture says 'every idle word' which means not only the good things that we say about others will be judged, but every bad thing that we say will be brought into account as well. Let us remember the Lord's words and always speak kindly of others no matter how strong the temptation is to say something negative. (Ephesians 6:5-8) I hope you are encouraged and inspired by today's message to be encouraging and uplifting of others at all times. MR. GOODSPEAK Have you ever known of someone who sets an example you can learn from, emulate, and utilize for the rest of your life? Such a person is my Dad. My favorite Dad story took place when I was 12. We were having carpet installed in our home. For lunch, my folks bought pizza for the crew. Dad went to talk with the boss about the job. I was around the corner listening. The boss said, This is an expensive job. Women will really spend your money, won't they? Dad responded, ?oWell, I'll tell you, when they were right there with you before you had any money, it's a pleasure to do anything for them you possibly can. This wasn't the answer he expected. He was looking for negative talk about wives which, to him, was natural. He tried again, But, they'll really play off that and spend all they can, won't they? Dad replied, as I knew he would, ?oHey, when they're the reason you're successful, you want them to do the things they enjoy. There's no greater pleasure. The crew boss tried one more time, And they'll take that as far as they can, huh? Dad responded, She's the best thing that ever happened to me. I'd do anything to make her happy. I was trying not to laugh. I knew he wanted Dad to give in just a little bit and say, Yeah, I guess that's true. But I knew that wouldn't happen...not in a million years! By Bob Burg Be determined to not say anything negative of others, but rather be a light that shines forth saying positive, encouraging and uplifting words that inspire the heart to continue on. Building others up instead of breaking them down is sure to leave a legacy of encouragement that will be remembered long after the words have been spoken. (Proverbs 18:19-21) Read and meditate on these scriptures: Galatians 6:1-4 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. Galatians 5:22-26 the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. Hebrews 13:1-3 Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. Philippians 2:3-7 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.
