Dear Friend,

The Lord has instilled greatness within each of us that is meant to be used
to bring glory and honor to His name. The gifts that we have been given
may seem miniscule to us, but it can mean the world to someone in need of
what we possess. We should never undervalue our gifts thinking that we are
not special enough to touch someone else and encourage them to continue on.
The Lord has us here for a special purpose that is meant to minister grace
to those near to us to let them know that All will be well and nothing by
any means shall be able to harm them. Believe in yourself this day and
allow the Lord to use you to encourage and bless someone else that is in
need of what only you can give. (Isaiah 54:17) (Philippians 2:13-15)

I hope this message encourages and inspires your heart to see that you have
the ability to minister to those who are down and discouraged and can make
an impact on this world for the better.

WHAT EXACTLY IS A HERO?

Once, many years ago, I pulled a family out of a burning car somewhere in
the middle of Wyoming. Last week I received a telephone call from a woman
who could not stop crying as she told me that one of my stories had saved
her son from committing suicide. In closing she called me "a hero."

That got me to thinking about what a hero really is. Was I a hero because
I pulled a family from a burning car? If so, how could I be a hero just
because I wrote a story that saved someone's life?

Today I decided to look up the word "hero" in the dictionary to see exactly
what it meant.

It read "A person who does something brave."

As I read on, it also said "A person who is good and noble."

That statement impressed me more than did the part about being brave.

That got me to thinking about something very important. Say I was walking
into the local Wal-Mart Store and I happened to open and hold the door for
someone as a courtesy. As they passed me by, I say "How are you today?"
Most of the time that would be no big deal, but this time lets say it was
for someone who is deeply depressed and near the end of the rope. That may
have very well been the only kindness or courtesy shown to them in a very long
time.

Having been near the "end of my rope," after my marriage of twenty years
ended, I was in such a condition. I was within hours of trying to get up
enough nerve to end the pain and misery. When I returned home, someone had
sent me a card in the mail which told me how much they appreciate me as a
friend. That wonderful card probably saved my life. That person, without
even knowing it, saved a life and became a hero.

I went on to write many stories which last week saved the life of a teenage
boy. In turn that makes the person who sent me the card a double hero.

I suppose that is why I fight so hard to help the children now living in
orphanages. Most children come out of these institutions with a very hard
and vindictive attitude against the world. The gifts we send them let them
know that they have not been forgotten. Hopefully, most of them will never
hurt anyone because of the kindness shown to them by those of us who cared.
If it works we will also become "heroes."

Gee, who would have ever thought that anyone can become a hero, and
possibly save a life, just by being kind and courteous to others? The best
part of all is that becoming a "hero" is free to all who wish to wear such an
honor.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

1 Peter 2:9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy
nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who
hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light."

Philippians 2:13-15 "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to
do of His good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in
the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights
in the world."

Romans 12:14-17 "Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the
same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men
of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil
for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men."

Colossians 3:16-17 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all
wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And
whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God and the Father by Him."

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.

Dear Friend,

When problems come our way, we should always have the proper perspective
and realize that there is a season for everything and sooner than later
the problems will be resolved and joy will be restored. It should not be
thought of as an odd thing to have troubles because the Bible says man is
of few days and many troubles, but we should also remember that God
supplies the answers and even in the midst of the problems, He will give
us His perfect peace. (Job 14:1) (Isaiah 26:3-4) (Romans 8:28) (Psalm 106:1-5)

Never think about giving up simply because you are going through hard
times. Take comfort in the fact that God is with you because you trust in
Him and He will make a way even though it seems impossible. Continue on
the journey that He has you on and you will see in the end how God worked
all things together for your good. He is ever merciful and loving and
wishes for you to stand upon His solid ground. Trust Him with your life.

I hope this message encourages your heart to see that life when looked at
in hindsight is much more beautiful and precious than it may have seemed
when we were on the journey through it.

LESSONS ON LIFE

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge
things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and
look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.

The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in
summer and the youngest son in the fall.

When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe
what they had seen. The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and
twisted. The second son said no it was covered with green buds and full of
promise.

The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled
so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever
seen.

The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping
with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.

The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they
had each seen but only one season in the tree's life.

He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season,
and that the essence of who they are and the pleasure, joy, and love that
come from that life can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are
up.

If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring,
the beauty of your summer and the fulfillment of your fall.

Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.

Don't judge life by one difficult season. Endure. Stay steadfast. Continue
on to the end and fulfill the plans God has for your life.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment,
worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we
look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen:
for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen
are eternal."

1 Corinthians 1:26-28 "For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many
wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But
God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and
God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which
are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised,
hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that
are."

Psalm 28:6-8 "Blessed be the LORD, because He hath heard the voice of my
supplications. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in
Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song
will I praise Him. The LORD is their strength, and He is the saving strength
of His anointed."
