Or get a different proxy.  This is going to be one of those easy-for-me-to-say
things:

A Linux box can "easily" be configured to support firewalling at the kernel
level with ipchains.  That way, that particular box would be able to access the
internet and would serve as a gateway for other machines, but everything behind
it is invisible.  No caching.  Have your Jetspeed server go through one of
those....  (Like I'm sure you have a dozen computers sitting around idle where
you work.... ;)

Still, it'll get the job done.
