The mere fact that you feel "very uneasy about this" tells you what you should do.  
You'll feel much better with a clear conscience if you pay
the $3.00 too.  It's going to a good cause, and who knows, maybe doing the right thing 
will bring you good Karma and you'll get lucky and win
